Unchained Melody - Righteous Brothers

The Righteous Brothers fue un maravilloso duo melódico formado en 1963 y que estaba compuesto por Bill Medley y Bobby Hatfield. Ambos dominaban con gran facilidad el tono de voces y arreglos que debian hacer en cada una de sus melodias en el momento oportuno.

En 1960 grabaron uno de sus primeros temas en Lp Ebb Tide, seguido en 1965 de una de las canciones que hoy en día puede oirse en cualquier momento y en cualquier Discoteca como el tema Unchained Melody producida por Phil Spector, una de las mas bellas y extraordinarias melodias de la historia de la música que resulta díficil describirla, hay que escucharla.

En el año 1990, Unchained Melody fue usada como tema musical de la película Ghost (más allá del amor o la sombra de un amor).

Creep - Radiohead

Radiohead es un grupo británico de rock alternativo. Se formó en el año 1989 en Oxford, Inglaterra.

Sus integrantes son:

* Thom Yorke - voz, guitarra rítmica, piano y ordenador portátil.
* Jonny Greenwood - guitarra solista, teclados, circuito análogo, ondas Martenot, piano de juguete, glockenspiel.
* Ed O'Brien - guitarra, percusión, efectos de sonido y voz.
* Colin Greenwood - Bajo, teclados, sintetizador y sampler.
* Phil Selway - batería y percusión.

A menudo clasificados como rock alternativo, han sido influenciados por una gran variedad de géneros musicales. Muchos han nombrado a Radiohead como una de las bandas más creativas de su época, con discos que marcaron los 90's, como OK Computer. Sus complejamente instrumentadas canciones y una evolución radical de álbum a álbum acentúan su lugar de banda de culto, y muchos consideran que han mantenido su espíritu de libertad creativa a pesar de grabar con un sello multinacional como es EMI.

Formada por un grupo de amigos de colegio en 1986, Radiohead no lanzó su primer sencillo hasta 1992, Creep. Creep, de su álbum de debut, Pablo Honey (1993), se conviritió en un éxito a nivel mundial, en la época en que el grunge (con bandas como Nirvana y Pearl Jam) dominaba las radios.

All That She Wants - Ace of Base

Ace of Base es un grupo de pop sueco aparecido en la ciudad de Gotemburgo. Su primer disco Happy Nation vendió solo en Estados Unidos más de nueve millones de copias y alcanzó el número uno con canciones como All that she wants y The sign.

Ace of Base es un grupo formado por 4 integrantes: Jenny Berggren, Malin Berggren, Jonas Berggren (estos 3 primeros hermanos), and Ulf Ekberg. Su historia musical comienza cuando después de presentar el demo "Wheel Of Fortune" a Mega Records Scandanavia, se hizo la grabación con Ace of Base y después se realizo su primer sencillo, Wheel of Fortune, y su album debut, Happy Nation.

Everybody Hurts - R.E.M.

R.E.M. es una influyente banda estadounidense surgida en 1980 en el Estado de Georgia (EE.UU.), pionera del denominado rock alternativo e inspiración de bandas de desarrollo posterior.

En la década de los 70, plena era punk, un estudiante de arte llamado Michael Stipe conoce a un coleccionista de LP´s de los años 60 llamado Peter Buck. Ambos se unen a dos músicos experimentados, Mike Mills y Bill Berry, y comienzan a tocar en pubs locales en la ciudad de Athens. Pronto se expanden por todo el estado y en 1982 publican un EP, "Chronic Town" con la discográfica IRS. Combinando rock-folk y punk logran que la crítica les defina como auténticos innovadores de la música. Pronto su expansión se traduce a todo el país.

En 1992, R.E.M. lanza su disco más oscuro y con letras más sórdidas, "Automatic for the people", considerado como el mejor disco del grupo hasta el momento. Numerosos sencillos salieron de este disco: "Drive", "Everybody Hurts", "Man on the Moon", "The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonite", "Nighstswimming" y "Find The River".

Wind Of Change - Scorpions

Scorpions, banda alemana de heavy metal fundada en Hannover en el año 1965. Famosa por canciones como Rock You Like a Hurricane, Still Loving You y Wind of Change.

La banda gozó de un alto grado de éxitos a lo largo de la década de los noventa gracias al álbum Crazy World y el single "Wind of Change." La canción habla de los cambios socio-políticos que entonces estaban ocurriendo en la Europa del Este al final de la Guerra Fría.

Bitter Sweet Symphony - The Verve

The Verve fue una banda británica de Rock Alternativo y Britpop creada en Wigan, Inglaterra en 1989. Formada originalmente por el vocalista Richard Ashcroft, guitarrista Nick McCabe, bajista Simon Jones y batería Peter Salisbury. La banda se disolvió en 1999.

Fueron uno de los grupos británicos más importantes de la década de los 90, resistiendo discusiones, problemas de salud, adicciones a las drogas y diversos pleitos judiciales. En 1997, después de su lanzamiento más exitoso, los problemas creativos entre Ashcroft y McCabe surgieron, los cuales llevaron definitivamente a la banda a separarse en 1999.

Bitter sweet Symphony (en español Sinfonía agridulce) es uno de los singles del albúm Urban Hymns (1997) perteneciente al grupo inglés The Verve. Esta canción fue utilizada en el OST de la película Juegos Sexuales (Cruel Intentions) dirigida por Roger Kumble. Fue alabada por muchos fans del rock por su melodía que combina la estridencia y fuerza característica del dicho género musical con una única partitura de violín riff que perdura desde el inicio al fin de la canción. Algunos pasajes de la canción hablan de la avaricia, de la lujuria y de la necedad de las personas.
